The Chapter context panel
Keep a synopsis, linked plot points, notes, and references beside the prose.
Browser editing requires a purchased license and Workspace sync. Desktop writing needs an active trial or license, without sync. Reading, search, and export of available work remain accessible. Check access requirements.

Open the chapter’s context
- Open a chapter and choose Chapter context, the panel button at the right of the title bar. Close the Outline first if it is beside the prose; the two share that space.
- If the panel is titled Reference, it is showing an entity or a kept note. Choose Back to chapter, or Unpin note, before editing the chapter’s own information.
- Write a Synopsis to summarize what happens, and Chapter notes for reminders that are not part of the manuscript.
Write from the chapter plan
Chapter plan lists the plot points attached to this chapter, with their titles, plot lines, and authored descriptions. Create or arrange those points on the planning board, then return to writing: the panel reads the same records, not a pasted copy.
Use Open planning board when you need to change the wider plan. Editing a planning note does not generate or rewrite the scene; you decide how the intention becomes prose.
References and notes
- In this chapter shows resolved explicit entity references when present. Named mentions, authored filing, and explicit links are not interchangeable counts.
- Attached notes open the shared notes attached here. Earlier idea notes, margin notes, and unresolved references appear in their relevant sections.
- Filed under is your deliberate statement that the chapter is about an entity. It does not insert that entity’s name into the prose.
- An unresolved link or unrecognized name is a prompt to check your records, not permission for the app to invent facts.
- Chapter links, the strip under the prose, counts this chapter’s plot points and entities. The plot-point count opens the Outline beside the prose, the entity count opens Chapter context, and Notes opens Quick notes.
