Screenplay writing
Write scenes, character cues, and dialogue with screenplay-aware formatting.
Browser editing requires a purchased license and Workspace sync. Desktop writing needs an active trial or license, without sync. Reading, search, and export of available work remain accessible. Check access requirements.

Choose the book’s format
Writing format belongs to each book, so a World can hold a novel and a screenplay together. Choose the format when creating or configuring the book, and use the Prose/Screenplay control in the writing toolbar deliberately. Check existing chapters after changing format; prose and screenplay have different layout rules.
Work with screenplay elements
The screenplay editor recognizes typed elements and provides screenplay spacing and columns. Return and Tab follow screenplay-aware transitions, such as moving between a character cue and dialogue. Use the element controls when the detected type is not what you intended.
Fountain-style text is supported. Review scene headings, action, character names, dialogue, parentheticals, and transitions after importing or changing format rather than relying on appearance alone.
Check delivery requirements
Choose export options appropriate for the screenplay, then inspect the output before sending it. Plotscribe does not claim Final Draft feature parity, FDX round-trip fidelity, locked production pages, or revision-color compatibility. Keep your source when moving work between applications.
